Monday, August 4, 2008 Campaign News

Good Sunday Evening to All,

I hope you all had a great day in whatever you were doing. I do hope that included the worship of the one true God in some fashion.

Let's get into the campaign news for this Sunday.

More Veep talk, this time on Obama's side. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-California) is offering up support for a very darkhorse candidate. That candidate being Democratic US Representative Chet Edwards of Texas. His district is in central Texas and includes President Bush's Crawford ranch.

In other presidential campaign news, Barack Obama now calls for giving Michigan and Florida a full vote in the Democratic National Convention coming up later this month in Denver, Colorado. Michigan and Florida were stripped of all their delegates by the Democratic National Committee for holding their primaries too early. The committee then voted in late May to reinstate the votes, but with each vote counting for half a vote. This, combined with the final June 3 primaries in South Dakota and Montana, gave Obama the delegates required for nomination over Sen. Hillary Clinton who suspended her campaign on Saturday, June 7, 2008.

We are now 5 days from the Opening Ceremonies of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. While this would normally provide a good break from the campaign trail just ahead of the conventions and the homestretch, Barack Obama has other ideas. He has purchased campaign ads that will be aired during the Olympic Games. So much for the "break". No word on what the McCain campaign will do during the games. The Olympic Games will be covered on the NBC family of networks such as NBC, MSNBC, CNBC, USA, Bravo, and Telemundo from Friday, August 8 - Sunday, August 24, 2008.

That is all for this update. Have a great week this week in whatever you do. God Bless You and God Bless America.

Good night.

Sunday, August 3, 2008 Campaign News

Good Saturday Evening to All,

I hope this finds everyone doing well and enjoying their Saturday night, the first of the month of August 2008.

First, let's get caught up to what happened on the Presidential Campaign Trail on Saturday, August 2, 2008.

There was some Veep talk today, from a man that hasn't been talked about a whole lot by the John McCain campaign. US Representative Eric Cantor of Virginia's 7th Congressional District is getting thoroughly vetted by the McCain camp. He would provide some great benefits to a McCain ticket. Not the least of which, he would secure Virginia's 13 Electoral Votes for the Arizona Senator. Virginia, as you know, is a swing state this election cycle and right now is a pure toss-up. The only thing that can negate Virginia from the Republicans even with Cantor on the ticket is if Barack Obama picks Virginia governor Tim Kaine. Here are some other positives about Cantor: He is bright, clean, conservative but not angry, Jewish, and a good fund-raiser. According to a top Republican source, it is doubtful Cantor will be the pick, but he's a rising star in the Republican party. Other Republicans that seem to be in contention for the Vice Presidential Spot in a John McCain administration are former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, former US Representative Rob Portman of Ohio, and current Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty.

There wasn't any talk about Obama's Veepstakes.

That is all the major news for the Presidential Campaign Trail.

There are no new polls to distribute.

So, until tomorrow night, I ask that you have a great Lord's Day. I also pray that each of you would find a church to go to tomorrow morning. You will truly be blessed.

Remember this, God Loves You and So Do I.

Take care and good night!!
